Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit – Review & Swatches

Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit Contour Bronze Highlight

I have been on a terrible contouring kick lately and seem to have amassed quite the collection of contouring products. But when I came across the new Step-By-Step Contour Kit by Smashbox, it didn’t stop me from putting it in my cart. And you know how that story goes. So here we are. Smashbox’s Step-By-Step Contour Kit comes with a contour, a bronzer and a highlight shade. The palette includes a hefty 11.47g . One of the things that I really appreciate about this palette is the equal amount of product distribution between the contour, bronzer and highlighter. The palette also … Continue reading

Tarte Rainforest After Dark Colored Clay Eye & Cheek Palette – Review and Swatches

Tarte Rainforest After Dark Colored Clay Eye & Cheek Palette

Tarte’s Fall 2014 collection has already launched at Sephora and their Rainforest After Dark Colored Clay and Eye & Cheek Palette, inspired by the hues of the rainforest at dusk, is a beauty! In packaging similar to last year’s Aqualilies palette, Rainforest After Dark comes with a highlighter, bronzer, blush and six eyeshadows. Not bad for $46 CAD! The palette comes in a sturdy, round plastic compact that has a pattern reminiscent of tree bark with a snake with a purple jeweled eye. The palette comes with 4g of highlighter and 4g of bronzer and 6g of blush (Tarte’s individual … Continue reading

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer (42) and Ro(Cocoa) (48) – Review & Swatches

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer (42) and Ro(Cocoa) (48)

When Marc Jacobs beauty line launched last year, the Highliner Gel Eye Crayon was the product I was most excited about. I love the finish and lasting power of gel eyeliner but often refrain from using it because I just don’t have the time to be fussing around with brushes and pots in the morning. So when I saw that this was a gel eyeliner in pencil form that promised to be waterproof and longlasting, I was so happy that I could now line my eyes, particularly my waterline with gel liner. The makeup Gods had heard my prayers. Alas, it was not to be. … Continue reading

The Disappointments: July 2014

Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze (25), Aesop Control, YSL Rouge Pur Couture Golden Lustre in Corail Dor (109), NARS Lipstick in Love Devotion & Tarte Matte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint in Exposed

She returns! I apologize for the unintended hiatus – multiple jobs, family, friends and other unexpected event have been leaving me no time to sleep, let alone do anything else (and the condition of my skin will attest to the hectic lifestyle I have been leading for the last few weeks). But I’m back and will do my best to get back to some sort of regular programming. I didn’t plan on coming back with a discussion of disappointing products but in an attempt to use up some of my products, I have been recently aware of some of the duds … Continue reading

Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in New Moon (97) – Review & Swatches

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in New Moon (97)

I know the Chanel Illusion D’ombre has been in my disappointing products previously but the hype around New Moon (97), a limited edition eyeshadow part of Chanel’s Reflets d’Ete de Chanel collection was too much for me to resist. I picked up New Moon about two weeks ago and at the time, there were no testers of the Chanel’s Summer 2014, Reflets d’Ete de Chanel, collection so I bought it blindly based on swatches and the fact that it was endorsed by Lisa Eldridge and every other beauty blogger. Rookie mistake. Needless to say, I have mixed feelings about it.  New Moon comes in a traditional … Continue reading
