Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes & Cheeks (Holiday 2014 Edition) – Review & Swatches

Laura Mercier Artist's Palette for Eyes & Cheeks (Holiday 2014 Edition) Review Swatches

So… apparently, we completely skipped fall and have gone to Holiday collections. In September. Seems a bit excessive, doesn’t it? For heaven’s sake, we haven’t even passed passed Halloween yet!!! Ridiculous. With some trepidation, here is the first review for Holiday 2014 releases. If you’re a frequent reader (thank you!), you have probably picked up on my affinity for Laura Mercier. For the past couple of years, Laura Mercier has brought out the Artist’s Palette for the holiday season and has received a very warm welcome from the online beauty community and consumers alike (judging from the always empty shelf in … Continue reading

Yves Saint Laurent Couture Palette in Fauves (2) and Afrique (3) – Review & Swatches

Yves Saint Laurent YSL Couture Palette in Fauves (2) and Afrique (3)

Until the recent launch of the Couture Palettes a couple of months ago, I had never paid much attention to YSL’s eyeshadow palettes but the promise of a new formula and beautiful array of neutral and bold, colourful shades had me curious. So I decided to try out two palettes and went for some everyday shades considering the price tag of these puppies. While beautiful, the packaging still leaves something to be desired for me. It’s a plastic case with almost no heaviness or heft to it – which I feel should be there for this price point. Plus, based on … Continue reading

The Wishlist: The Fragrance Edition

September 2014 fragrance Wishlist: Diptyque Volutes (Eau de Toilette), Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille, Laura Mercier Ambre Vanillé Soufflé Body Crème, Dyptique Candle in Ambre, Voluspa Candle in Crisp Champagne

On a recent trip to the mall, my olfactory senses seemed to have been in a playful mood and amassed quite the wishlist. From the looks of it, I am relying on vanilla and amber to usher me into fall this year. 1. Diptyque Volutes (Eau de Toilette):  A gorgeous, heady mix of vanilla, honey and tobacco, it pairs perfectly with that comfy fall sweater and boots and exudes a smokiness that warms you on a chilly fall day. To my nose, it’s a much softer, more palatable version of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. 2. Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille: Having … Continue reading

MAC Blush in Taupe & Pink Cult (Artificially Wild Collection) – Review & Swatches

MAC Blush in Taupe and Pink Cult (Artificially Wild)

It’s been a while since I have paid attention to MAC’s limited edition collections but one stroll past those open glass doors plastered with promo images and it’s not difficult to get pulled back in. You know what they say… you never forget your first love. One look and all the feelings come rushing back, your head spins and the next thing you know, you’re trying to catch your breath and trying to justify purchasing every item in every collection. Well, something like that is what happened when I looked at the Artificially Wild collection at the MAC store. Except I … Continue reading

Laura Mercier Satin Matte Eye Colour in Gold Seduction and Plum Allure – Review & Swatches

Laura Mercier Satin Matte Eye Colour in Gold Seduction and Plum Allure

I had mostly glanced over Laura Mercier’s Sensual Reflections Collection, perhaps because the promo images of the collection just didn’t speak to me at all. But then I swatched the Satin Matte Eye Colour eyeshadows. I’m not sure if this is a new formula but these are limited edition shades for Fall 2014. I have Gold Seduction and Plum Allure here for your reviewing pleasure. The eyeshadows come in an sturdy plastic packaging that feels slightly larger than necessary, but that’s neither here or there. What I do like about the packaging is that due to its clear lid, I can actually see the colours … Continue reading
