I’m back with some more empties. And there are a lot of them so let’s just dive right in!

  1. Philosophy Purity Gel Cleanser: This is the gel version of the famous Philosophy’s Purity cleanser. The original Purity cleanser makes me break out quite readily so I wasn’t particularly willing to use this on a regular basis. However, it did take off my makeup well and cleansed well whenever I did use it.
  2. First Aid Beauty Deep Cleanser: This cleanser is supposed to have red clay in it that should make it well suited for oily skin types. It is a gel cleanser that has a red hue and cleanses well without drying out my skin. I would use this again.
  3. Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate: A good daytime eye cream. Not much more to say about it, really.
  4. Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate: This is not a super thick eye cream but it hydrated really well! Makeup glides on well on top of it. It also sinks in quickly and provides a smooth canvas. I have used up 2 very generous sample sizes of this and would definitely purchase it again if it wasn’t so cost prohibitive. I don’t know if I can justify the cost.
  5. First Aid Beauty Blemish Patrol Pads: I really liked using these blemish control pads as toner. There is a lot of liquid soaked in each pad so I cut them into 2 to get the more value for money. I don’t know how much they did in the blemish control department but I did like how gentle they were. The second ingredient in the solution is witch hazel, making them very well suited to my skin. I love witch hazel.
  6. Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil: This oil has Omega 3, 6 and 9 and active Vitamin C. I think my deluxe sample had just gone bad because it smelt awful so I decided to chuck it. It is supposed to smell like oranges. My mom has dry skin and this is her favourite oil to use at night.
  7. Ole Henriksen Power Peel: Full review coming soon!
  8. Kate Somervilel Nourish Hydrating Firming Mist: I’m not sure what this did other than serve as a refresher whenever I sprayed this. I did try spraying this on my cleansed skin before putting on moisturizer a couple of times but honestly, I didn’t really notice any difference in how well moisturized my skin was.
  9. Caudalie Make-up Remover Cleansing Water: This cleansing water worked really well to take off face and eye makeup. Definitely better than I was expecting it to. I didn’t even have to hold it over my eyes for a while before the makeup melted off – it was almost instant. But considering how well it worked, I feel as if it can’t be as gentle as other micellar waters. But that’s just a feeling.
  10. Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil: Full review here.
  11. Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Oil-Gel: This was a very thick gel that has kind of hard to get out of the bottle. However, the full size does come with a pump so that should help. Other than the gel consistency, which made it a little difficult to spread the product, it worked like any other cleansing oil, just not as well. I always found traces of makeup, particularly eye makeup left behind and had to go in with a separate eye makeup remover every time. It also has a very strong rose scent so those sensitive to scents – beware!
  12. Benefit They’re Real! Remover: This is a cream eye remover that was launched with the They’re Real! Push-Up Liner. I have received several samples of this and I can truly say, this is an awful eye makeup remover. You have to rub in the cream to dissolve the makeup. As a remover, it works really well, even on waterproof shadows and mascara. However, every time, my vision gets hazy and remains hazy even on the next morning. It takes a good 12 hours before I can see clearly. It’s fine if you don’t get the remover in your eye but considering it’s a cream eye makeup remover, it’s a bit difficult to not get it in the eye.
  13. Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Dark Brunette: I liked this well enough but a good chunk of it broke off when I twisted it up. It’s more fragile than it looks, apparently. I know I had loved this eyebrow pencil but as I used it more and it lost it’s sharper edges, the less I liked the way my brows looked. It started to look like the entire eyebrow was coloured in as the lack of sharp edges made it difficult to get a hair-like look to the eyebrows. Original review here.
  14. MAC Eye Brows in Spiked: Full review here.
  15. MAC Cream Colour Base in Fawntastic: I ended up using it as a brow highlighter, mostly. It took aaages to finish this! Full review and swatches here.
  16. Smashbox Limitless Eye liner in Onyx: Smashbox claims for this to be a longwearing, waterproof, smudgeproof eyeliner that is supposed to remain intact for 8 hours. I won’t say it doesn’t smudge but it does wear for a very long time and does resist water. I mostly wore this in the waterline (as always) and although there was some fading, it lasted surprisingly well throughout the day and the inky black was visible along the lashline even at the end of the day. It comes with a sharpener built into the lid which is convenient as it’s always there and so much less likely to get lost among the chaos of your vanity.
  17. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer: I had used this when it first launched and thought I had a reaction to it so when I got this deluxe sample, I didn’t even consider using it. Then I was just playing around and decided to give it a shot just to use it up. And completely fell in love. So much so that I bought the jumbo size. Full review here.
  18. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger (Medium 2): The best concealer for my face I have ever used. Full review coming soon!
  19. Benefit Lipstick in Skinny Dip: I don’t think Benefit makes this anymore so I won’t harp on it. It’s a lipstick with a very thin consistency that looks shiny and pretty at first but then dries out the lips. It gives sheer coverage that doesn’t last a long time.
  20. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion: A very well known eyeshadow primer with minimal pigment to even things out on your lids. Not my favourite but works fine.
  21. Buxom Full-Bodied Lip Gloss in Dolly: This is a beautiful mauve-ish pink lip gloss with shimmer. Looking at the full coverage, super pigmented lip glosses on the market right now, this is more of the traditional lip gloss. It’s sheer coverage but makes the lip look full and pretty. I love this range for the minty cool feeling on the lips as it is supposed to plump. I can’t say I see any plumping but it’s not a painful feeling at all.
  22. NARS Lipstick in Love Devotion: This is a sheer coral that added just a hint of life on the face. It was basically a glorified lip balm without the hydrating properties of a lip balm. Definitely not worth the NARS pricetag.
  23. MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Till Tomorrow: This is a pink-mauve brownish matte lipstick but has a surprising amount of slip. I don’t know why I bought this since the formula isn’t particularly great and the colour looks horrendous on me. Kind of looks grey-ish on my lips. It’s not completely done but I can’t wear it anymore.
  24. Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Fresco: This is one of the best lipstick formulas I have ever used and I will do a full review on this shortly. Fresco is a gorgeous rosy shade that would look great on all skintones.
  25. Fusion Beauty LipFusion InFATuation in La Lip Jolie, Pucker Up and Full Frontal: Loved these glosses. The wand for La Lip Jolie broke off so I couldn’t really finish that one. Pucker Up and Full Frontal were beautiful. Full review here.
  26. Cargo Blush in Tonga: This is one of those blushes that was all the rage on YouTube a few years ago. It’s a mid-tone, natural pink that actually does look very pretty on the face. I don’t know what the big deal is though as there’s nothing particularly unique about this shade. It’s a very soft powder and kicks up a lot of powder when you dip your brush in it but it doesn’t look powdery on the skin. And you get a lot of product (10 grams!) so even when you want it to be done, it just keeps going.
  27. YSL Baby Doll Mascara: Full review coming soon.
  28. Benefit Roller Lash Mascara: Full review here.
  29. Urban Decay Perversion Mascara: Full review coming soon.
  30. Estée Lauder Sumptuous Infinite Mascara: Full review coming soon.
  31. Clinique High Impact Mascara: Full review coming soon.
  32. The Body Shop Shea Body Whip: It’s less thick than the Shea Body Butter but for a lotion it’s very thick. It also performs about as well as the body butter. The downfall is that it comes in a bottle without a pump and a lotion this thick really needs a pump. I ended up wasting so much of the product since it was stuck to the sides of the bottle and I just couldn’t get it out. So given the choice, I wold stick with the tried and true Shea Body Butter from the brand.
  33. The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Body Lotion: Unlike the Shea Body Whip, this one has a pump but the product is still quite thick. It sinks in well and has a very sweet scent. A little too sweet for my taste.
  34. Bliss Body Butter in Grapefruit + Aloe: This was a pleasantly fragrant body butter that smells mostly like grapefruit, spreads well and absorbs pretty well. It doesn’t leave the skin feeling oily and leaves a velvet finish.
  35. Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream: This was my first venture into Soap & Glory products. This was a good body butter but it has a very strong citrus and sugar scent. Very strong. It’s not as strong on the body but it also doesn’t dissipate. Forget about wearing a perfume once you’ve used this.
  36. Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Body Moisturizer: Again, a very good body butter. It’s not as thick as the other body butters I have used – it almost has a slightly whipped consistency. I don’t really know how to describe the scent but I don’t like it. I’m not quite sold on this as others are.
  37. The Body Shop Shea Sugar Body Scrub: Full review coming soon.
  38. The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Cream Body Scrub: Full review coming soon.
  39. The Body Shop Hemp Intensive Hand Butter: This is a thick hand butter that that pretty much felt the same as the one packaged in the tube, except it’s more convenient. I also used this on my feet when I was too lazy to get a separate foot cream out of the drawer and it is thick enough to be used as foot cream.
  40. The Body Shop Almond Hand & Nail Cream: The consistency of this hand cream is very thin – thinner than the L’Occitane Hand Cream in Amande. It has a slightly bitter almond taste that I actually like. Despite the consistency, it doesn’t sink in immediately, althought it doesn’t take too long. It leaves the hands slightly oily but the oiliness disappears in a few minutes.
  41. L’Occitane Delicious Hands Hand Cream in Amande: The consistency on this hand cream is quite thin and it sinks in very quickly. It has the brand’s almond scent.
  42. Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream: This is one of the best hand creams I have ever used and will continue to repurchase. It sinks into the skin in less than 10 seconds and hydrates the skin for hours without leaving any film. If you’re washing your hands with public washroom soap, you do need to apply this every time (I know since I kept this at work). It also has a mild citrus scent that doesn’t tend to linger. It can make it through a handwashing or two at home though!
  43. Shiseido Ultra Sun Protection Lotion SPF 50: I love this facial sunscreen. It’s quite emollient and I will often not wear a moisturizer with it.
  44. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dermo-Kids SPF 45: Full review here.
  45. label.m Honey & Oat Shampoo: This was a translucent liquid that cleaned the hair well. It’s supposed to be hydrating and while it didn’t dry out my hair, I wouldn’t say it was particularly hydrating either. It smells so good. It smells like breakfast and that serves to almost wake you up in the morning… sort of.
  46. label.m Honey & Oat Conditioner: This wasn’t a thick conditioner. As with the companion shampoo, this not hydrating enough for my hair. Smells great, though!
  47. L‘Oreal EverStrong Thickening Shampoo: This is a sulfate free shampoo with rosemary and juniper. It made my hair feel like it was thicker but it felt grimy to a certain extent as well. My hair needed washing on the second day when using this shampoo
  48. L’Oreal EverStrong Thickening Conditioner: This is a conditioner that has rosemary and mint and is supposed to not contain any sulfates. Since sulfates are a foaming agent, why would be be in a conditioner to begin with, I’m not sure. Regardless, it did provide enough hydration that my hair wasn’t insanely knotted but wasn’t so much hydration that it weighed my hair down.
  49. Kerastase Ciment Thermique: One of my true staples that has been around for years. I should really do a full review on this at some point but really, it’s awesome for fine hair. Buy it!
  50. Nailtiques Non-Acetone Remover: Full review here.
  51. Dior Crème Abricot: Full review here.
  52. MAC Nail Lacquer in Rougemarie: This is one of the most beautiful blood red nail polishes in the world. I have tried and tried and failed to find an exact dupe for this shade. The formula is not that great since it’s thin, needs at least 3 coats and the brush needs expert handling if I don’t want my hands to look like I’m a character for Macbeth. But done right, it makes the hands look soooo pretty!
  53. Julep Freedom Polymer Top Coat: This was a really thick, goopy  top coat that has a lot of bubbles the first time I used it. The next couple of times, it was fine so maybe it was my application technique or something. But everytime, as I applied the top coat, it actually took my nail polish off as I painted my nails. Even if the nail polish was dry already. This was one of the worst top coats I have ever use, if not the worst.
  54. Deborah Lippmann Addicted to Speed Top Coat: It’s a super quick-drying top coat that doesn’t cause any shrinkage and makes the nail polish last significantly longer than it would with other top coats. It’s not as shiny as I would like but other than that, it’s a fabulous top coat. I have already repurchased it.
  55. MAC Brush Cleanser: Always have a bottle for deep cleansing. I don’t use this straight out of the bottle. I cut it with water to make it more gentle on my brushes and it works really well. I also keep a spray bottle of the mixture on hand for spot cleaning my brushes.
  56. Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Eau the Parfum: This is one of the few floral perfumes I can wear without wanting to throw up. It has a sweet, powdery floral dry down that I love on other people. On myself, the longer I used it, the more powdery I found it on myself. I don’t think I will be purchasing this again but I will continue to sniff others when they’re wearing it!
  57. Lancôme Magnifique Eau de Parfum: It’s a warm, woody scent that also has a hint of floral in it. The floral (I think it might be rose) is just almost indetectably mixed in there so it doesn’t bring on the headaches I usually get from floral scents. I can’t pin point why I like it. It should smell old lady-ish to me but I really like the scent. Makes no sense.
