NARS released a couple more blushes recently and where there’s a NARS blush, there’s me, trying to justify the purchase of another blush I don’t really need. Today, we have Impassioned and Goulue for your reading pleasure. Impassioned was released with the Vogue Nouvelle Spring 2016 Color Collection and Goulue was created as VIB Sephora Rouge Exclusive.

NARS Blush in Goulue and Impassioned

Like all NARS blushes Both blushes are packaged in the traditional NARS rubberized matte black packaging. The small compact comes with a mirror and is small enough to easily transport should you need to take it on the go with you. The packaging does get dirty but at this point, I just take it as a sign that I’m actually using the product. I’m not as bothered by it as some others.

Both Goulue and Impassioned feel dry to the touch but do not exhibit the usual characteristics of drier powders. While they are hard pressed into the pan, I did not find it difficult to get the product onto the brush. Both blushes blend out easily, can be built up and/or sheered out as desired. And they do this with no kick up when the brush is swiped over the product. The blushes also live up to the expectations we have all developed of NARS blushes through experience. I can easily get 8-10 hours when layering these blushes over my NARS foundations.

Impassioned described as a rich orchid, which I don’t see to be a very accurate description. It’s a very pale pink with a matte finish that looks like a dusty pink in the pan, but the grey disappears on the skin. The colour transfers onto the skin pretty true to pan – maybe a touch darker. I didn’t think it would show up on my skin but it turned out to be a very soft rosy flush. I think it would be neutral on paler or cooler skintones but on mine, it definitely pulls on the warmer side. For being a light shade, it surprising lasted around 8 to 9 hours on me. Beautiful shade. I can pack it on with a denser brush too.

Love is warmer and more peachy. It is more sheer and requires building up. Douceur is more brown.

Now on to Goulue!

NARS Blush in Goulue

NARS Blush in Goulue

Goulue is a medium neutral berry with golden shimmer. The texture is super smooth and you can’t really see the shimmer – it just looks like a golden healthy sheen. It can built up for a very strong punch of colour on your cheeks and has really good lasting power. I would say this tended to last a solid ten hours on my cheeks. As the day goes on and the oils from my skin come through, it tends to look give me a stronger glow. I don’t like to wear highlighter with this blush since it gives me such a beautiful, yet natural glow after a couple of hours of wear.

Compartively,  Outlaw is slightly warmer, has more of a sheen, is more pigmented and feels denser in texture. Mounia is deeper plummy brown. It is more pigmented and has a softer texture. Seduction is even deeper than Mounia but is more sheer.  I thought Mounia and Seduction may be similar but as you can see, they are really nothing close to Goulue.

I love NARS blushes and these definitely live up to the quality that we have all come to expect of NARS. While both Goulue and Impassioned are great blushes, if you have an extensive collection, you may not see enough uniqueness in these two blushes to warrant spending money on them. But if you don’t have a large blush collection, or if you just love your higher end blushes, these are definitely worth a look. Also, I have seen a baby version of Goulue being given out as a VIB Rouge renewal gift so if you are about to renew your VIB Rough status, I would hold off on purchasing this shade!

Have you checked out any of the NARS Spring 2016 collection?
